Learn the basics of color correction and color grading in video editing, from start to finish. This course focuses on how to utilize DaVinci Resolve to create awesome color grades in videos within the software along with highly useful tips & tricks.
Topics covered in this FULL-DAY real-life class:
COURSE OUTLINE:
• Introduction to Color Correction: What is Color Correction and what is the difference between Color Correction and Color Grading.
• Interface: Introduction to the tools and interface of DaVinci Resolve, where to locate the various tools and what are their functions.
• Color Wheel: How color wheels allow color relationships to be represented geometrically, and show the relationship between primary colors, secondary colors and tertiary colors.
• Waveforms: Using waveforms to monitor luma or brightness of a scene in videos.
• Vectorscope: Using vectorscope to help analyze hue and chroma levels and eliminate unwanted color casts.
• Shadows, Midtone, Highlights: How to use these 3 tones creatively to improve your Color Grade.
• Matching colors using Waveforms & Vectorscope
• Introduction to the Nodes-based workflow
• Creating masks to isolate areas of the clip to be excluded from the grade
• Exporting your work
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Participants will learn step-by-step how to:
• Navigate the complexities of DaVinci Resolve and identify the various tools.
• Use the Color Wheel to analyze the scene colors and plan the Color Grade
• Use the Waveform to analyze and correct luma or brightness values
• Analyze the Vectorscope and use the information to eliminate color casts
• Incorporate the 3 main tones of Shadow, Midtones & Highlights into your scenes
• Match colors between scenes using Waveforms & Vectorscope
• Use & manage Nodes
• Create masks to separate the color layers
• Export the final video to a suitable & your desired format

Course is divided into 2 sections throughout both day: Theory Session and Practical Session
We maintain a low student-to-trainer ratio allowing for better learning & shooting opportunities & experimentation with various camera settings
Participants will receive 2 years of E-Learning access to contents of this course, these include videos, cheat-sheets and also summary notes, which you can watch or download/print at your own convenience
